Reno, Nevada – Stead, Nev. National Aviation Hall of Fame Enshrinees joined presenting sponsor Perform Air in awarding the Grand Champion Neil A. Armstrong National Aviation Heritage Invitational Trophy to the 1944 OY-1 Consolidated Vultee Stinson. This splendid aircraft is owned by Duncan Cameron of Lebanon, TN. Restoration by Duncan Cameron and Tom Westfall.

VINTAGE AIRPLANE COMPETITION KICKS-OFF WITH CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Reno, Nevada – The 12th annual National Aviation Heritage Invitational kicked-off today with a call for applications for vintage aircraft to compete for the acclaimed Rolls-Royce Aviation Heritage Trophy, which is on prominent display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum’s Udvar Hazy Center, Dulles, VA.

WORLD WAR II NAVAL TRAINER WINS ROLLS-ROYCE NATIONAL AVIATION HERITAGE TROPHY
The 2009 Grand Champion and recipient of the Rolls-Royce National Aviation Heritage Trophy is the 1944 North American SNJ-5C owned and restored by Chuck Wahl of Cameron Park, Calif. Mr. Wahl will have his name engraved on the trophy, which is displayed at the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

NATIONAL AVIATION HERITAGE INVITATIONAL HOSTS RARE ANTIQUE, MILITARY AND CLASSIC AIRCRAFT

The Invitational brings the bygone age of aviation back to life with the prestigious antique, classic and warbird aircraft competition.

ROLLS-ROYCE RECOGNIZES WINNERS OF THE NATIONAL AVIATION HERITAGE INVITATIONAL
Bill Wiemann's beautiful P-51D based in Alpine, WY received the coveted Rolls-Royce Aviation Heritage Trophy for 2007 as the overal winner at the Invitational. The Rolls-Royce Avaiation Heritage Trophy is displayed at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washingtion Dulles International Airport in Virginia. This P-51D also won the Hap Arnold Trophy for the best military aircraft.

10th NATIONAL AVIATION HERITAGE INVITATIONAL Previous winners featured at EAA in July
Bi-planes, war machines and sport aircraft from days-gone-by will soar over the deserts of Nevada this fall, part of the 10th National Aviation Heritage Invitational (NAHI) taking place at the Reno National Championship Air Races, September 12-16 in Reno, NV. Rolls-Royce, the National Aviation Hall of Fame, Reno Air Racing Foundation and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum partnered to found the NAHI a decade ago, and have renewed their support every year.

WORLD WAR II AIRCRAFT GARNER AWARDS AT THE NATIONAL AVIATION HERITAGE INVITATIONAL
Authentic World War II aircraft stole the show at the National Aviation Heritage Invitational, Eastern Region during the Dayton Air Show earlier this month. A 1943 Piper L-4H owned by Colin and June Powers of Monmouth, Oregon captured the top prize - The Rolls-Royce Aviation Heritage Trophy. Commonly referred to as the Grasshopper, the Piper served as a liaison and artillery spotting aircraft during World War II.

Former Astronaut Joe Engle to present trophies at the National Aviation Heritage Invitational
Chantilly, VA. - Major General Joe H. Engle (Ret.) will serve as Master of Ceremonies and present the
Rolls-Royce Aviation Heritage Trophy at the Eastern Region National Aviation Heritage Invitational July 16-17, 2005. The Invitational takes place in conjunction with the Dayton Air Show in Dayton, Ohio. The awards ceremony is held Sunday, July 17 at 11 a.m.

Chantilly, VA. - Rolls-Royce announced today the dates for the 2005 National Aviation Heritage Invitational competition. The Eastern Regional competition will take place at the Dayton Air Show in Dayton, Ohio on July 16-17 and the Western Regional competition will be held in conjunction with the Reno Air Races in Reno, Nevada September 16-18.
