 The National Aviation Heritage Invitational was established by Rolls-Royce North America in 1998. The objective of the National Aviation Heritage Invitational is to encourage the preservation of aviation history through the restoration of vintage aircraft to original flying condition.
The National Aviation Heritage Invitational is sponsored by Perform Air International, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the National Aviation Hall of Fame..

National Aviation Heritage Invitational Official Ambassador:
![Robert [Hoot] Gibson](images/sp_about_staff_hoot.jpg) The National Aviation Heritage Invitation is also proud and honored to have former Astronaut and Space Shuttle Commander Captain USN (retired) Robert "Hoot" Gibson as its first official Ambassador. Gibson will act as spokesperson for the Invitational and encourage the restoration of vintage aircraft through the promotion of the Invitational competition, held in conjunction with the National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV.
Master of Ceremonies:
A prominent figure in aviation will preside as Master of Ceremonies for each event. Past MC's include Apollo 13 Commander General (retired) Jim Lovell, Enola Gay Aircraft Commander General (retired) Paul Tibbets, Apollo Astronaut Colonel (retired) Frank Borman, Apollo Astronaut and last man on the moon, Captain (retired) Gene Cernan, Apollo Astronaut and first man to walk on the moon, Neil A. Armstrong and world famous Acrobatic Performer Patty Wagstaff.
